Sales Associate, Part-Time or Full-Time

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Under general supervision, assist customers in merchandise selection and purchase; operate cash registers in retail and/or service operation.

TYPICAL DUTIES:

  • Assist customers in locating, selecting and purchasing garments, hats, purses, belts, etc.;

  • Assist customers and senior staff in the sales and stocking of footwear;

  • Open shipping cases, receive inventory and stock shelves and display stands;

  • Operate cash registers; receive cash; make change; quote prices; process and handle charge sales;

  • Participate in physical inventories; prepare and maintain inventory records; assist in receiving stock;

  • Clean shelves, fixtures, and furnishings; maintain retail stock in attractive and orderly arrays;

  • Any other duty as determined necessary by management.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school graduation or equivalent AND six months of experience in retail selling, cash register operation, and/or general clerical work;

  • Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:

Senior Sales Associate or Assistant Manager

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Assist customers in merchandise selection and purchase; operate cash registers in retail operation; assist management in stock control and operations.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  • Help customers with product selection;

  • Operate cash register, do cash reports and make deposits;

  • Work with management to ensure proper product assortment;

  • Receive and sign for merchandise;

  • Process and stock received items according to company procedures;

  • Ensure proper customer service procedures and policies are followed.

  • May assist in the preparation of purchase orders for stock replenishment; may type routine correspondence and memoranda, occupational-level skill not required;

  • May open and close register daily;

  • Any other duty as determined necessary by management.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or GED certificate, AND one year of experience in retail selling, cash register operation, general clerical work and/or financial record keeping. Six months of additional qualifying experience may be substituted for education.

  • Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications.

REQUIRES KNOWLEDGE OF:

  • General apparel sales skills, sizing and styling;

  • Procedures for shipping and receiving, retail sales, inventory procedures and methods of invoicing, including discounts and taxes;

  • Computer skills, and understanding of retail sales, inventory, and shipping/receiving software applications.

Internet Sales Associate, Full-Time

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Under general supervision, handle daily internet sales, shipping and receiving tasks and manage product data according to defined policy and procedures.

TYPICAL DUTIES:

  • Photograph product and write short product descriptions for use on the web;

  • Pack product for shipment as customer deliver, stock transfers or vendor returns;

  • Ship product using the UPS World Ship software and our Retail Management System.

  • Receive, unpack, prepare and tag product;

  • Stock shelves and display stands;

  • Participate in physical inventories; prepare and maintain inventory records; receive stock;

  • Clean shelves, fixtures, and furnishings; maintain retail stock in attractive and orderly arrays;

  • Answer telephone calls in a courteous and professional manner;

  • Any other duty as determined necessary by management.
